In March of 1999, members
of the former Soul Crowd Band of Loreauville, LA gathered for a
reunion party at the old hot spot in St. Martinville, LA called
the Signorelli Club(Slicks). The attendance and response was so
great that we decided to regroup and Darryl Ransonet came up with
the name GTO and D-STREET BRASS. In September 2001 we were given
the opportunity to perform for a record breaking crowd at Downtown
Alive Lafayette.
Probably the most significant factor in determining
GTO's longevity came about when we performed
for a wedding reception in New Iberia. The band marched the
entire wedding party, including guests, from the church to
the reception hall. We never thought the young generation
would actually like our music. They were quoted as saying
"We love that 'old school' music, the horn section, the
girl, and all the movement and excitement." That was
the springboard which lead to many more referrals. And now
after performing for weddings throughout the state, even in
Texas and Mississippi, GTO is now recognized
as one of the premier wedding reception bands in South Louisiana. |
